Imagine(by
John Lennon).
Imagine
there’s no heaven
It’s
easy if you try
No hell
below us
Above
us only sky
Imagine
all the people
Living
for today
Imagine
there’s no countries
It isn’t hard
to do
Nothing
to kill or die for
And no
religion too
Imagine
all the people
Living life in peace
You may
say I’m a dreamer
But I’m
not the only one.
I hope
some day you; ll join us
And the
world will be as one.
Imagine
no possessions
I
wonder if you can
No need
for greed or hunger
Imagine all the people
Sharing
all the world
You
may say I; m a dreamer
But I’
m not the only one
I hope some day you’ ll join us
And the
world will be as one.

1. Lead in: T shows
John Lennon’s photograph.
She asks some pre–questions.

murdered)

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ .
2. T lets Ss
listen to <<IMAGINE>>
3. After
listening and before handing out the lyrics, T explains some words.
This aims to the explanation of the new vocabulary and
to a first approach
to the messages of the song.
4. T has
prepared a set of cards with the words on. C imagine, heavens, hell
Religion, greed, brotherhood, war, peace, share,
hunger)
5. T gives them
the lyrics photocopied.
6. It’s easy
if you try.
Ss find at
least five if clauses in the song. These sentences are not easily
spotted,
because they are hidden.
T tries to
elicit the first one as an example.
-If there is no heaven above us or hell below
us, people will live life for
today.
Ss give the following sentences.
a. If there are no
countries or religion, people will live life in peace.
b. If you join us,
the world will be as one.
c. If there are no possessions, there will be no
greed or hunger.
d. If all this
happens, all people will share the world.
7. I WONDER IF YOU
CAN:
This is
the most interesting stage. Ss try to produce their own poems.
T divides the class into groups. T asks Ss
to write poems according to the
world they
imagine want to live in.
Group 1.Imagine all the
world without lies and bad thoughts
no need for valuable things and money
there all will be happy, together.
Group 2 Dream of a fair
world and its peaceful people
A planet painted green and every day so simple.

neither war our children peace will prevail
and so will our people.

politicians

so everyone could be happy.

religion and everything could be fair.
